Steven Pugh, MD
Dr. Pugh will be joining Northwest Neurological in June 2017. He completed a BS in Neurosciences from Texas Christian University in 1991 where he performed research in behavioral pharmacology and was honored with a Boller’s Scholarship Award in 1990 for his work on animal models of drug self-administration, tolerance, and dependency. He then went on to the University of Missouri – Columbia for medical school, graduating cum laude with a medical degree in 1996. Dr. Pugh completed an internship in medicine, and residency in neurology in 2002 from the University of Washington School of Medical in Seattle.
Dr. Pugh will diagnose and treat all neurological disorders. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is sub-specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple sclerosis where he has extensive experience with comprehensive MS care and clinical MS research. He started the MS Center at Rockwood Clinic in 2002 when he moved to Spokane with his family. He has also been employed by the Providence MS Center in Spokane and the Providence Neuroscience Institute. He has extensive experience in hospital-based neurology, diagnostic adult neurology, EMG and electrodiagnostics, botulinum therapy, and intrathecal baclofen therapy.
Dr. Pugh is also involved with the development of software applications that allow patients with chronic diseases to be more active in their education and care, as well as providing important feedback to their health care providers. He has also been extensively involved with the MS Society in an advisory role. He is a Clinical Instructor with the University of Washington Department of Neurology and is involved with the education of both medical students and residents.
